Campaigns In Focus
In conversation with Korda Marshall (Infectious Records) and Chris Morrison (CMO)
Korda comes from Cornwall in the South West of England, and signed the Devon band Muse to his Infectious record label. He has spent over 25 years in the music industry as a musician, A&R Manager and MD of several record companies including Warner Bros, and has guided the careers of many leading artists including Ash, Garbage, The Enemy, James Blunt, and Gnarls Barkley, as well as Muse. Korda recently put off early retirement to reform his Infectious label, and sign the band The Temper Trap, where he is now exploring new ways of running a new music company. Korda’s remarkable impact on the UK music scene is set to continue. “I’ve always had this thought about the context: you’ve just stepped out of a cab and you’re walking down the high street and a dummy got thrown through a window, you’re in Blade Runner. If you were a musician in that world, what would a record company look like? What would a record company be like in 2029 or whenever it was? That’s where my head’s at”.
CMO Management and Chris Morrison have been in the music management business for over thirty years representing Thin Lizzy, Ultravox, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Blur, Gorillaz, Grace Jones and many others. Blur reunited this year for a series of live shows.
In 2001 Chris was awarded The Lifetime Achievement Award (Peter Grant Award) at the annual MMF Awards and inducted into the MMF British Music Roll of Honour.
Ajax Scott is Director of Woodshed Media. Ajax was until recently Publisher and previously Editor of Music Week.
