At last, the time has come to ‘bring the world in’ to the exciting and original sound of brand new Urban Pop act Kwende. Its been a long time coming for the 24 year old university student, who spent 10 years writing and performing with his father back home in North London where, as a 9 year old percussionist, he began his music career. Backing his father’s band ‘Beat of the Earth’, Kwende played at many of the well -known London venues such the Roundhouse, Underworld and Mean Fiddler.

In 2007, Kwende moved on to study Commercial Music at University, and it was at this point that he well and truly found himself as a solo artist. Almost immediately, Kwende began writing and performing and, in so doing, electrified the whole of Bath with his banging beats and infectious melodies. This material, inspired by his university life, would later become his debut EP due to be self- released on March 15th 2011.
His gigs and recent UK tour have created a loyal following and now, this highly talented rapper/singer/songwriter and producer is one of the most exciting acts to emerge this year with his recent UK tour creating a loyal following from an eclectic mix of lovers of good music.
Kwende’s original, crystal clear and multi dimensional singing/rapping voice paired with his ability to write harmonically and extremely catchy choruses underpinned with a lethally tight and at times hypnotic beat sets him well and truly apart. Taking influences from many styles including reggae, funk, pop and even rock the ‘Kwende’ sound is rich in colour and texture. Whilst never deviating from the urban backbone of fat beats and driving bass lines it takes our ears down a time line of popular music history. Watch out World!!
