JENJEN is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, DJ, producer, sound healer, sound engineer and youth music tutor.
JenJen’s indefinable live sound; weaving “diaphanous formless vocals” with haunting, soulful melodies; blends all genres, as she creates her own unique style – “something a little fresh and different.”
Currently mastering her debut solo album with Tim Oliver at Real World studios, recorded in Glastonbury; Mick Fleetwood’s studio, Maui; Studio Rev in Los Angeles, and Stanley Jordan’s studio, Sedona, Arizona; the album, produced over 8 years, is an eclectic mix of Jen’s acoustic songs, lazy guitars, etheric vocals, Native Amercian drums, shakers & flutes, cellos, violins, whalesong, and world class musicians, including J Rokka, Billy Three Trees and Christo Pellani.
JENJEN has played live gigs, festivals and club nights, throughout SW England, from Bristol and Bath, to Brighton, London, Ibiza, LA, San Francisco and Hawaii, for over 20 years.
She played live on the main stage at the Vegan Fayre in Bristol in May 2011; played the London and Brighton circuits in 2010 and the Small World stage at Buddhafield in 2009.
No stranger to International gigging, JenJen sang live at SaltWater Jazz Cafe in Panama City, Florida in June 2011, also playing gigs at Zacharys Bar and Zen Garden Café. From Jan to March 2011, she played live gigs at various festivals in Maui, Hawaii, and could be found live in Sedona, Arizona in 2006.
Back in her local region, JenJen has been a regular on Bristol Radio stations BCFM, Radio Dialect and Bristol Uncovered. She has also DJ’d on Passion FM and Radio Galaxy.
A Singer/songwriter and guitarist at free festivals for over 10 years; Jen was vocalist with the O’Roonies in the 80’s. She went on to become singer and co-producer in her band Snipe, with Paul Boswell (Rhythmites), performing live with PeeWee Ellis (James Brown band). Snipe remixed a jazz score of Ghost Dance for the Nunney Jazz Cafe in 2001. The band also received interest from John Peel and several record labels, including 4AD. Snipe were quoted as being ‘the next big thing to come out of Bristol after Massive Attack and Portishead’ (Logo Mag), before they disbanded in 2003.
A worldwide DJ throughout the 90’s, JenJen aka Mis-chief was resident at many top club nights across the UK, including Helter Skelter, Hardcore Heaven, Big Love, Absolute Old Skool, Mad Tommys, Bristol Exposure; Radical Rehousing in Amsterdam; playing with top acts such as the Scratch Perverts, Freestylers, Grandmaster Flash and Daddy Gee (Massive Attack). She also toured Canada and America; with gigs in San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and the Burning Man Festival.
JenJen hosted an Internet radio show, The Rip, for 6 years with Coldcut’s ‘Pirate TV’, alongside EchoLocation (San Francisco), Radio4Live and DS 2000 (Brighton).
She has run a female DJ agency for up and coming DJ’s, and has taught DJ, Music Technology, Singing and Multimedia workshops to disadvantaged young people for over 10 years.
She currently performs Sound Healing ceremonies with singing crystal bowls across the West country, as well as performing live music gigs.
