Issue One is a ‘NEW’ Bristol-based publication created by a collaboration of artists and designers. Within the magazine we aim to raise awareness of the South West’s vibrant cultural scene by not only highlighting individuals of interest, but also the culture within the region as a whole. BRISTOL is ever increasingly being recognised as one of the top cities for the arts, with students being recognised in many top nationwide shows such as this years New Designers in London. While Banksy may bring the public’s attention to the ‘graffiti scene’ I feel there are far more interesting activities at lower levels that need to be highlighted. The individuals and collaborations of work that feature are talented, local artists who are constantly striving to gain greater recognition in the Bristol art world. The magazine itself is run as a volunteer project and is being led by UWE graduates Jack Smith and Rebecca Case.
