Inner City Grit Records is an independent underground co-operative ran label Based in Bristol U.K
Established in June 2008 by a collective of like minded artists as a direct result of other labels not understanding ‘where we were coming from – creatively or business wise’
We are a label that caters for the modern music enthusiast who has a taste for a wide range of styles and genres.
We’ve grown tired of the expectations that the mainstream culture imposes upon our society, were sick of being dictated to. What’s music, what’s art, what culture is and how we should live our lives and construct our values. We are organic.
We are genuinely interested in building a real network with like minded people that can operate outside of this mainstream system that hopefully will benefit everyone involved.
We see a different model of business from the current dinosaur operations that are in motion in the music industry at the moment. We are a creatively focused label, who put art before profit, and have a humanistic approach to business. We are human beings, and are aim is to connect with other human beings, because that is what makes you feel alive! (not making money!)
Inner City Grit is proud to present ‘Inner City Grit Volume 1’ a 16 track sampler featuring cutting edge acts such as The Black Bloc, Avacate, Big Joan, Cradle, and many more. This compilation samples and mixes all aspects of the city’s diverse back drop from post punk, IDM, Trip Hop, Industrial and the dam right undefinable
Available free on download and at selected independent stores in Bristol.
Later in the year we will also be staging ‘Inner City Nights’, showcase events bringing you the most diverse and freshest underground acts around live and direct.

Signed to ICG in 2008. Female fronted Alternative Rock act Avacate (pronounced A-VACATE) from Bristol U.K, forge a unique twist on the rock perspective. Laden with emotive female vocals, post rock guitars regurgitated by crazy FX pedals, the core glued down by punky dub bass and driven by high octane drumming.

Signed to ICG in 2009. Extended Play produced in house by Dave Lewis and the ICG team. The Weak And The Strong is a singer-songwriterproject mainly inspired by the music of Michael Gira. Other influences are Joy Division and Velvet Underground. The songs are basic and totally acoustic. In general the music of this project is best described as NO-FI. Turn up the volume, sit back and listen.

Signed to ICG 2009. A duo of electronica producers ranging from tripped out dnb to dub and dubstep.
- I Wish I Knew

Signed with ICG 2009. I Wish I Knew creates tripping guitar-based atmospheric rock with raging passages and ethereal vocals. The band has been described as an indie band with a new-wave sound, addressing their style to influences of postrock, indie and shoegazer. Bands they have been compared to vary enormously, including the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai, The Cure, Mono and Dead Can Dance. Even bands like Jefferson Airplane and Portishead have been mentioned.

Signed to ICG 2009. The alternative lo-fi band Cradle was born on September 15, 1996 in Rotterdam, Holland. Some past Cradle-highlights: Cradle supported 16 Horsepower, Johan, The Suburbs and performed live in France, Germany, England and Holland. Many radiosessions were aired and also some acoustic sets were on the bill. Early 2001 they won a bandcontest: ‘De Kleine Prijs van Dordt’. Late 2001 a videoclip was shown on the Dutch music-channel TMF.Cradle’s typical sound and performance is raw, intense, hypnotic, loaded, pure and basic.
