Sector: Management
Key Clients
We advise clients at all levels within the entertainment industry, from new bands, artists, authors and models negotiating their first contracts through to international recording artists with decades of experience. The nature of our work is such that much of it is confidential, though references are available on request.
CMLG is a specialist group set up by barristers from Cornwall Street Chambers. The aim of the group is to provide unique, specialist advice directly from barristers in all areas of entertainment law – from intellectual property, such as trademarks and licensing agreements, to contractual and copyright issues.
Although we can advise clients across the entire UK, our main bases are the Midlands (Birmingham) and the South West (Exeter & Weymouth).
Our strategic alliance with New York attorneys, Altchiler LLC, enables our clients’ interests in America to be protected and expanded.
We are able to advise and assist new artists looking for recording contracts as well as established artists and members of the industry, such as record companies and publishing houses.
We play an active role within the music industry. As well as providing a legal service, we are committed to helping artists with all other aspects of their career. This unique combination of industry experience and specialist representation leads to an effective and individual approach.
Although music law forms an integral part of CMLG’s work, we are able to advise and represent clients in all aspects of media law and related commercial matters.
The fact that we are a group within Cornwall Street Chambers enables our expertise to encompass a wide range of ancillary matters such as commercial, business and financial disputes if required. Like all barristers’ chambers in England, CMLG has no collective legal identity of any kind; all barristers within the team are self- employed individuals.
