If you’re interested in doing business in the Nordic region or developing your business there, then the brand new BPI Nordic Trade Mission is for you…

The BPI has this year announced a new trade mission to help labels and related companies develop their business opportunities in the Nordic markets. Collectively this region currently delivers over $500 million of recorded music sales per annum and has a very active and growing digital market.

The mission takes place in Oslo, Norway over two day period June 8th & 9th June.

Day 1 PM – individual presentations on each of the five Nordic markets by the respective Music Export offices (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway & Iceland) with a comprehensive introduction to and overview of each market. Topics to be covered include local labels, publishing, distribution (digital and physical) mobile and the live sector. In the evening, there will be a reception party at the UK Embassy for delegates and invited guests.

Day 2 – Specialist panels covering distribution, both physical and digital, licensing, marketing and PR and the live market. The panels will include senior executives from the region dealing with international repertoire and will be open to questions from delegates. The afternoon sessions will include the opportunity to meet and network with a mix of companies from the region. The event will be rounded off in the evening with a 10th anniversary reception for delegates staged by the Music Export Norway, featuring live showcases.

The Nordic countries have always been an excellent market for UK independent music and this is a great opportunity for those coming on the mission to develop contacts, partnerships and activity in this region. To keep costs down, we are condensing the programme into (a packed) 2 days, but are highly confident that a lot of ground will be covered and you will leave Oslo with both a stack of business cards and first-hand knowledge of doing business there.

Space is limited and you are advised to register without delay. There will be a £100 + VAT registration charge and delegates will be expected to pay flight & hotel costs – hotels in Oslo are around £100 per night and current BA flights from Heathrow to Oslo are around £160 return. There is a fast direct train from the airport to Oslo city centre (average speed 210 km/h!) which takes around 15/20 minutes and costs £20 each way.

We hope (as always), to deliver a very high level programme on this inaugural mission covering the digital, live, marketing and distribution sectors, as well as a mass of opportunities for our members to meet other companies from the region and lay the foundations of business in this region for years to come.”
