The British music Experience presents ‘The Great Debates’.

These are important days for the future of music. At present the record industry is losing £200 million a year and 7 million of us are file sharing illegally in the UK alone. (Source: British Phonographic Industry)

In this digital age of free access and devaluation of recorded music, is there a way back for the record industry and are there solutions to ensure the future of new music?

There are no easy answers it seems but there are a lot of important questions.

For the first of our Great Music Debates series – Tomorrow Never Knows: The future of music consumption and its impacts, in association with Music Week, we’ve assembled a heavyweight panel of figures with wildly different viewpoints ranging from the BPI – the representative voice of the UK recording industry, to the controversial Pirate Bay – the world’s largest bit torrent tracker.

Chaired by Music Week editor Paul Williams, the panel will debate the many issues of value, rights, ethics and responsibilities of consuming music in the modern world.

Passionate about Music? Then join the debate! Please email events@britishmusicexperience.com and submit any questions you’d like to raise in the debate.
