About the BMF
The Bristol Music Foundation (BMF) is run by music industry professionals in Bristol and supports the development of music businesses and musicians in Bristol and the South West of England. The BMF is dedicated to encouraging partnerships and networks in the region and connects regional music forums across the South West via the South West Music Forum to provide a joined-up approach to activity, to share ideas and knowledge, and to raise the profitability and international profile of the music industry in the South West.
We represent the music sector in the South West on local and regional cultural consortiums, including with the media and design sectors, and on cultural strategy and planning groups including the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad Task & Finish Group and National Skills Academies forum. We work nationally with all music industry trade bodies and are part of UK Music’s Leadership Development Association and the national Music Development Association.
We connect with local, national and international music industry and government agencies, organisations, festivals and events to improve opportunities for musicians and music businesses across the South West.

Following consultation in the region in the summer of 2009, and at Music South West, the BMF is now developing a new strategy and regional website which will make recommendations on the next phase of collaborative music development in the region.
The strategy and a first phase beta version of the new regional website for music were launched at the Watershed in Bristol on Wed 3rd March 2010.
We also reported on findings from our Music To Market survey of musicians and music businesses in the South West. 160 people took part.
