The Bristol Music Foundation and the Bristol Music Industry Forum were formed as a response to the increased awareness of government and non-governmental organisations of the need to invest in the Creative Industries sector at national, regional and local level and the realisation that better organised sectors were already effectively lobbying for the increased investment.

BMIF Aims & Objectives

The company’s registered Aims and Objectives are;

  1. To provide education and advice on all aspects of the music industry to individuals and organisations in Bristol and the South West.
  2. To encourage economic development within the music industry throughout the region.
  3. To run seminars, surgeries and mentoring schemes in Bristol and the South West.
  4. To establish links with other Music Development Organisations and Music Industry Bodies nationally and internationally.
  5. To advise and encourage individuals and organisations on attending national and international music conferences and events.
  6. To encourage, promote and assist in the export of music form Bristol and the South West to other regions and countries.
  7. To identify areas of need within the Bristol and the South West Music Industry.
  8. To develop an infrastructure for music in Bristol and the South West and the taking of that music to a national and international audiences.
  9. The encouragement of greater inward investment into the music industry in Bristol and the South West.

The Bristol Music Industry Forum

Its’ membership is drawn from all sectors of the industry including education, promoters, venue owners and musicians and is attempting to represent an untied voice over issues that limit the growth of one of Bristol’s most important creative industries. It is part of the regional music industry forum as well as being represented on the city councils Creative Industries (CI) steering group.

The forum meets bi-monthly and reports to the executive of the Bristol Music Foundation.
