As part of the celebrations for the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay in Bristol on 22nd May 2012, Bristol Music Foundation and Bristol City Council are holding a free, open-air concert in Millennium Square.

The concert will kick off at 8pm, directly after the torch arrival at the Lloyds Amphitheatre, in the adjacent Millennium Square, to continue the celebrations going on through the day, which will be receiving huge local, national and international coverage.

We are also delighted to announce that the world renowned Quantic & Alice Russell with the Combo Barbaro will be headlining the event, and will be joined on the bill by a host of Bristol’s finest established and up and coming musical talent, and some very special guests to be announced shortly.

Producer, musician, DJ and composer Quantic and singer/songwriter Alice Russell are two of the UK’s best loved independent artists and leading lights of the international funk, soul and alternative dance music scene, capturing the World’s imagination not just for their natural born talents, but for their unique and refreshingly passionate take on their craft.

Having both played a pivotal role in the UK’s funk and soul resurgence of the early 2000s (out of which sprang the likes of Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse and Adele), and with ever-growing international fanbases, sell-out tours, they are now well established recording and live artists the world over.

They have just released ‘Look Around The Corner’, the first ever full collaborative album from these two musical soulmates, recorded in Quantic’s adopted home city of Cali, Colombia. The sound of this intoxicating record mixes sweet soul and blues with overtones of folk and gospel, and the inimitable swing of Quantic’s world-renowned outfit the Combo Bárbaro, who form the core band, who will be joining Quantic and Alice for this very special performance.
