BMF Launches New MSW Website & Takes Time Out For New Organisation
Following another sold out Music South West event the BMF has launched a new website for South West music and is now taking time out to develop a new partnership for a new regional organisation.
We aim to form a new organisation that will continue the work to date of the Bristol Music Foundation. The BMF will carry on with a new board and focus work more specifically within Bristol. We also launched the new BMF Urban at Music South West 2010 that is looking to provide industry links for emerging urban artists in Bristol.

It will provide a unique offer to musicians, music businesses and the public alike. It will act as a point of contact, resource, advice and networking for music in the region and aim to enrich the consumer experience and connect credible music based activity. Building on the work to date of the BMF, it will seek to unearth new talent across the region and provide a real link for such talent to the wider industry, and to other artists nationally and internationally. It will raise the bar of production and distribution of music in the region by creating a genuine point of aspiration for musicians, record labels, managers, promoters, venues, and other music businesses. The events, network and opportunities provided will see real talent come to the fore and artists and businesses raise their game to improve their product, ambition and determination to succeed.
We will aim to engage the music industry at the highest level in the development of music businesses and musicians, and set out to create an accessible system that will connect business leaders with musicians and business start ups to offer genuine points of mentoring, advice, guidance, and professional development. Such programmes, where relevant, will link to national and international industry priorities, and practice.
The organisation is under the working title of Music South West and will most likely be based in Exeter. It follows a period of work in the region led by the BMF over the past couple of years and specifically after Music South West 2009. It aims to develop a situation that will support the development of the South West Music Forum.
The strategy board is Korda Marshall, Chris Morrison, Matt Booth, Bev Allen, Martin Elbourne, Ben Challis, Seth Jackson, Andrew Gummer, John Empson, Leon Alexander and Ajax Scott.
