The Bristol Music Foundation (BMF) with the South West Music Forum (SWMF) member networks is working on a project that will map the whole of the music sector in the South West in order to clearly demonstrate the size, activity, gaps and needs in the industry, as well as the economic impact of the music industry in the region.

We need this information in order to advocate for improved, sustainable support to businesses and artists, and lobby for increased investment into the music sector in the South West.

Before we launch that though we have a very important survey for all music practitioners in the South West that is looking to track digital activity in response to the government’s recent Digital Britain report.

The first 100 responses will be entered into a prize draw. Prices tba.

“Digital Britain is about giving the country the tools to succeed and lead the way in the economy of the future.
Investing in areas such as broadband access for every home and business will bring benefits across the board, driving growth, enabling businesses to thrive, and providing new opportunities right across the country. It is an essential part of building Britain’s future.”

Gordon Brown on the release of Digital Britain, June 2009.

South West Screen is working in partnership with the local creative media networks, including the BMF and SWMF, to find out how the vision of a Digital Britain and the proposed improvements to our communications infrastructure might affect businesses in the South West.

Tell us how digital connectivity affects you and your creative business. By providing us with information about your communications, skills and environmental needs, you can help us to help you by tailoring support packages to match your needs.

We would be very grateful for your time in filling out the questionnaire. The information provided will give both SWS and the networks, including BMF and SWMF, vital data to help us in supporting the future of the creative industries in the South West.

Deadline for completing the survey 21 September 2009.
