Creative Choices web portal launched

Creative & Cultural Skills have launched the brand new Creative Choices° careers web portal, offering information, inspiration, and interactive tools to practitioners in a wide range of creative industries, as part of a unique collaboration between three Sector Skills Councils.
The site provides careers advice across a broader remit by adding content from some of the industries represented by Skillset and Skillfast-UK. This will start with film, TV, music, and fashion design and eventually cover other sectors including animation, computer games, interactive media, and publishing.
Creative Choices° provides the tools, knowledge and networks to support creative individuals and businesses. The range of careers advice offered on the site already includes case studies, job profiles and industry news, as well as multimedia content such as Choices° TV, plus interviews and blogs from famous names from the creative industries. The partnership will mean that more content will be available for users in one place, as well as the chance to link to substantial deeper content held by the partners.
Tom Bewick, chief executive of Creative & Cultural Skills, said: “Broadening the industry content available on Creative Choices° means that the site will appeal to a much broader range of creative practitioners. We are creating a new portal into a huge portfolio of quality content. Each partner organisation has authoritative content for the audiences they serve; this collaboration is about bringing some of that content together and sign-posting what’s available to support individuals and businesses across the dynamic and fast-changing creative industries.”
Dinah Caine, chief executive of Skillset, said: “This is an important collaboration as it consolidates information across the creative industries. It provides an additional place for creative businesses and individuals to go for invaluable tips and advice.”
Linda Florance, chief executive of Skillfast-UK, said: “Beyond the current recession, industry will be reliant on high levels of skill and creativity. It is essential that we provide as many routes as possible for individuals to understand the skills they will need for the future in this exciting arena. We wholeheartedly support this collaboration on Creative Choices°.”
